Teddy Bear Day

Yesterday the kids were so excited to get to bring their teddy bears to school! We had a fun time of having them all share about their favorite stuffed animals! In the morning they wrote about their teddy bears and they each made an award for their bear. We then got to walk around the first grade classrooms and show the students and teachers our bears. When we finished walking through the school, we headed out to Pace Park. The kids had a great time eating teddy grahams with their bears and getting to play with friends! When we got back to school we went on a "bear hunt" and watched the story of "Goldilocks and the 3 Bears."

Then today when the kids came into class they noticed that there were 10 balloons on the board. They are to count down out last 10 days of school! Each morning we will pop one balloon and inside will be a message about something special we will get to do for the day. Today's message said "use markers all day!- no pencils!" And oh boy, you would've thought I just came them 100 dollars- they were so excited about getting to use markers on all their work today. They are already asking me what's in tomorrows balloon :)

Don't foget that our Kindergarten Graduation is next Tuesday at 6:30! We will be sending home the caps and gowns tomorrow for you to wash them if you'd like. Then on Tuesday, please bring your child at 6:15 to the Intermediate School to get all ready to go!

And then our Field Day is next Friday! Don't forget to send back the form if your child needs a sack lunch from the cafeteria- it will be the same as a field trip day, if they don't have a lunch on their desk in the morning, we will have to send them to get a lunch from the cafeteria. Hope to see some of you out there next Friday!

Enjoy your Thursday!

Zoo and Reptile Man

So I know it's been a week since our Zoo field trip but I still wanted to post some pictures from it! It was such a fun day! We had so many parents and grandparents come out with us and I am SO thankful to all of you who came to help! I was home sick the day before so was still not feeling 100% for the field trip, so I was incredibly grateful to have all the help.

Then the day after our zoo trip, we had the reptile man come to school to show us some snakes, lizards, and toads! The kids loved it!
Some pretty excited kindergartners!

 Sweet girls :)

We saw some alligators- this one was looking straight at her!

We also found a very cool nature trail

Showing off the things they bought at the gift shop

After a full day at the zoo then lunch and playing at the park, they were worn out!

I think every one of the kids feel asleep!

Tired boys!

 The Reptile Man!

This toad was a favorite of a lot of the kids :)

We've had some very busy and fun past couple weeks at school! And I know that these next four weeks are going to be filled with lots of fun things as well! We will have our Kindergarten Graduation on May 22nd (Tuesday) at 6:30 in the intermediate school- we would like students to be there by 6:15. and then on May 25th we will have our field day at school! And May 31st is our last day of school- we will have a party in the morning and early release at 11:45.

I cannot believe it is already May! What a fun year we've had and I have so enjoyed teaching your children and am so blessed to have had such a great group of kids! :)

Earth Day

On Friday we got to do some fun Earth Day activities!

 Waiting to start the fun!

We got to see some very cool butterflies, scorpions, moths, caterpillars, and lots more!

Then the kids got to make some leaf-rubbings.

They really enjoyed getting to see the different types of leaves and how they looked different when they would use the crayon on them.

They also got to hear a story about a caterpillar turning into a butterfly and they learned about the stages that it goes through to get to a butterfly.

Making the four stages of a caterpillars life.

And the kids had an extra special afternoon on Friday too! With the points that they get during guided reading time, they have been working to get enough points to fill a jar that we have. And on Tuesday, they filled up the jar! So today was their reward day- they got to have an extra recess on the "big kids" playground AND Mrs. Ray made them some "earth day" cupcakes :)

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your evening!

Easter Party!

Today was such a fun day! Very tiring, but fun :)

Well earlier this week the kids got to do a Show and Tell. They stuffed a plastic egg with something and gave the other students clues to try and guess what was inside. There were a few that stumped us all!
 Guessing what could be inside.
 Showing what they brought.

And I think we're ready for our party :)

Making some watercolor eggs and then writing about our favorite part of Easter.

This week in Science class the kids got to see and touch a real bunny. So today they wrote about if they had their own pet bunny.

Getting ready for our Easter egg hunt!

A HUGE thank you to all the parents that sent eggs, cookies, gift bags, etc... and to all of those that came out to help! The kids had a blast! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Next Thursday and Friday (April 12 and 13) are flex days again. If your child attended the first flex days, they will need to attend these. If they did not come, they don't need to come again. Thanks!
